 *** Auberge, La Malbaie

Renowned for its welcoming atmosphere and highly acclaimed cuisine, the Auberge graces a heritage village perched on a cape that offers a splendid overview of the St. Lawrence River and the surrounding mountains. Beautiful parks, whale-watching, two great golf courses, one of the best cross-country skiing networks in the province, art galleries and arts-and-crafts shops are all easily accessible from the inn, which is located at the heart of the Charlevoix region. This stately white Norman style establishment is proud of its long tradition of hospitality, and its inviting atmosphere brings peace to weary visitors.

This stately guesthouse has 22 rooms, each one reminiscent of those found in convivial boarding houses of days past. Guestrooms feature full bathrooms, bathrobes, hairdryers, tea and coffee makers, cable and satellite television and have either one queen bed or queen bed with sofa bed that can accommodate up to quad occupancy based on sharing existing beds. A cheery lounge allows guests to curl up by the fire, challenge a friend to chess or relax with the piano. There are many scenic locations to ski -cross-country or Alpine, dog sled or snowmobile. Hotel activities also include tennis, badminton, and croquet as well as a fully equipped games room. There is also a spa and sauna and massage facilities.

The Auberge's cuisine is both traditional and daring. Regional products such as market produce from Jean Leblond, fish from Fumoir Dallaire, and lamb from Éboulemontaise Farm ensure that our cuisine remain satisfying and varied. The foie gras is a time tested favourite of our patrons. In order to continue serving this popular selection and to maintain the high quality of our cuisine, we now offer only foie gras from ducks raised locally. The wine list has a wide selection for a perfect complement to any dinner, from classical choices from France to pleasant surprises of the New World. Enjoy your meal with a simple, affordable wine or - in special occasions - sample a vintage wine. Chef Dominique Truchon has been in charge of the kitchen at l'Auberge des Peupliers since 1983. A native of the neighbouring village, he is now renowned as one of the greatest chefs in Québec. His love of the Charlevoix shows itself in his efforts to spread the word about his home. He works closely with area producers to develop the region's products.
